Herb Gardens

On Wednesday some helpers from Ara Tuakana came to plant in some herbs. We planted  thyme, oregano, rosemary, dill, and some curry plants. They smelled delicious!

While Mrs Turner has been away, Miss Jones has been looking after the Eco Kids. This week we have been working hard maintaining our garden.
Look at how big our beans have grown!

Week 4

Today we planted French lavender for the bees and tied string around the beans and bamboo to help support the plants as they grow.

Broad Beans Week 3

Today we planted broad beans into the garden. We learnt how to take the beans out of the containers, trim the roots to help with growth and plant correctly. We then put bamboo stakes next to each plant to help it grow nice and strong. To finish off the lesson we feed the worms in the worm farm!

Picking apples for the crumble!

Today we picked the last of the orchard's apples (for crumble next week mmmmm yum), filled the bee troughs with water and weeded the garden. We found an enormous perfectly formed carrot when we were weeding - it tasted good. Check it out our famous carrot in the photos below!

We learned that the orchard trees weren't dying - they just lose their leaves in autumn.

Yummy and healthy!
